The boring bit ... I look after all the executive stuff, accounts, admin, internet and the like. Not as exciting as the other directors but hopefully it holds the ship afloat.
The project that I am currently engaged with is Self Managing Your Funds as I have an extensive background in self-managment and a personal interest in making sure that it works and works well for people (and their families) who receive funding to meet their dreams, life plan and their wants and needs.
The more interesting bits ...
I have a passion for the best! People keep trying to tell me that I am lucky because I have choices, great give me a choice of ice-cream (chocolate please) but when it comes to my daughter getting an education, when it comes to my daughter getting a job I want the best (not a choice). My daughter is not an experiment or an exhibit, evidence based learning (based on the scientific principle) provides us with the knowledge and skill of how to achieve the best. Sadly, it does not provide others with the will to practice it!
I have a commitment to subsidiarity, decisions being made as close to the person who will bear the consequences of that decision - usually the person themselves. The person who has the greatest interest in getting the best and in changing course if not is all right is the person who has to bear the consequences; the incentive to change, the will to creativity.
I have a story to tell of a very fortunate life. A shared life with family, friends, colleagues, communities, strangers and the kindnesses of many. I have been fortunate to have never been alone, I have been fortunate to be often gently reminded that my life is a privilege not a right and that to share my life and to share in the lives of others are gifts that will make me truly human.
I have a journey to make as my life is not over (yet!). With others I am still learning, laughing and having a good life. At my age it is truly the journey not the destination! Whether it is age, wisdom or the ever present doubt I now know that there is no destination just stops along the way. Times to sit down and have a chat before continuing on the path (or ski slop) with family, friends, and others.
I have a voice. For what they are worth you can travel through cyberspace and read a little of what I have thought about lately - read here. Before you go, please when you get there take a moment to share a thought of you own or to make a comment, thanks.
More boring stuff if you want to see where I have traveled over the last 40 years ... (to be updated)
